Love your neighbor

Quick email!!! No time today!!

We had the best baptismal service on Saturday for our investigators Hebe, Jade and Rubi! I loved it!

It is a really interesting story with these three girls. Thier grandparents got baptized like 6 months ago. Nobody in the family wanted anything at the time. Even when i first got here in the area of Espartaco, the three girls wouldn't even shake our hands. They wanted nothing to do with God or with us. For some reason, Jade decided to come to church with her grandparents and with Rubi. That was about a month ago. A week later, they told us that Hebe wanted to start listening to the missionaries. So we went and visited her (oh by the way they all live in the same house, just different floors. Very common in Mexico) So anyway, we started talking to Hebe, put a baptismal date with her on the first lesson, and there were literally no complications. They all went to church every week, they all stopped the bad habits they had in their lives, and they read and pray every day! I don't know why the Lord was so generous to give me the opportunity to meet these three young women and help prepare them for their baptism.

When they got up to bear their testimonies after being baptized, my heart was filled with love and joy. Just to hear three young converts to the gospel and hear how this decision has helped them change their life reminds me why i am here serving my mission. I was ultimately impressed with Hebe's testimony. It was about 30 seconds long. She got up there, really shy, and thanked everyone for coming and then said something I'll never forget. She said ''I know I just barely got baptized, and that I still have a long way to go, but this gospel is changing my life already and I invite anyone who is here and has not made the decision to be baptized, to make the decision today. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.'' One of the most powerful testimonies I've ever heard.

I LOVE the gospel of Jesus Christ, and I am eternally greatful for the opportunity that I have to serve the wonderful loving people of mexico city.

love you all too, and hope you have a great week!

love,

Week 5 - Figuring Things Out

Whats up everyone!? Hope everybody had a great week! Well, today, I finally hit two weeks in the field, and one month in the mission! I am honestly having a great time here. The city is absolutely disgusting and smells bad, but somehow I find it beautiful! The people here are great! I love meeting new people and teaching investigators! the only thing is that in practically every appointment we have, i always get asked what my thoughts on Donald Trump are... let me tell you, they HATE Trump here. So i obviously tell them I don't care about him. In reality, I don't have a preference. Not into politics. Anyways, I had a pretty good week though. Went on exchanges with the Zone Leaders and we went to work! Visited a ton of investigators. The people here are very very willing to listen to our message. I love it! It's hot here everyday, and there are random thunderstorms every now and then. The food is good but I´ll be honest, lately the food has been getting the worst of me latel...

Remember your covenants!

April 23, 2018 it was a pretty good week here in espartaco! Found some new investigators, put baptismal dates for them! so hope everything work out. They are three kids! so hopefully we can get them excited for baptism! Our investigator Jesus got baptized this week! It was pretty cool. Jesus has been an investigator for like 3 years, but for some reason he stopped listening to the missionaries for like 2 years. His wife recently got baptized, exactly a month ago actually, and so this past month we've really taken advantage of the opportunity and got him excited to be baptized. And Jesus is one of those investigators that you don't really find. His goal wasn't to be baptized. His goal is to get the priesthood and be sealed one day on the temple and baptism is just a step he needs to take to get there. He goes to church every Sunday and actively participates in class! He really wanted to change his life, and now he is baptized! He is such a great guy, and I know that if h...

Happy New Year 2018!!

Jan 8, 2018 sorry I havent written for so long! so much has happened, but then again I feel like not much has happened. My Christmas was pretty awesome here! I'm not gonna lie, it felt nothing like Christmas back at home in Oregon. The reason being... well they just celebrate it differently. There are people who go all out and decorate their homes with lights and Christmas trees, and then there are people that don't really care and just use it as an excuse to party and drink haha. But its cool. Christmas day here is really celebrated on the 24th, so the 25th kinda seems like a normal day. But nonetheless, I got to talk to my family and that's always nice. Then of course new years was this past week, which was pretty awesome too. It was weird because not that many people were out on the streets, kinda just another normal day. Cool story though: On Monday night, Elder Lomeli and I were talking right before we went to bed about the prophets. He was just asking me a bun...
