it was a pretty good week here in espartaco! Found some new investigators, put baptismal dates for them! so hope everything work out. They are three kids! so hopefully we can get them excited for baptism!
Our investigator Jesus got baptized this week! It was pretty cool. Jesus has been an investigator for like 3 years, but for some reason he stopped listening to the missionaries for like 2 years. His wife recently got baptized, exactly a month ago actually, and so this past month we've really taken advantage of the opportunity and got him excited to be baptized. And Jesus is one of those investigators that you don't really find. His goal wasn't to be baptized. His goal is to get the priesthood and be sealed one day on the temple and baptism is just a step he needs to take to get there. He goes to church every Sunday and actively participates in class! He really wanted to change his life, and now he is baptized! He is such a great guy, and I know that if he stays strong in the church he'll have huge callings and responsibilities!
My weekly message for you guys is to just remember the covenants that you made at baptism, and honor them. Most of us were baptized when we were 8 years old and we didn't really understand exactly why. So I invite you all to study the scriptures or a talk or something, or whatever you need to do to remember exactly why you got baptized and how you're going to be a better member of the church. We met a lady this week named Alicia. She got baptized 5 years ago, and then went inactive like three months after she got baptized. She hasn't stepped foot into a Mormon church for 4 years and 9 months. And so anyway we had the assignment from the bishop to go visit her and see how shes doing. So when we knocked on her door, she immediately told us that she doesn't want anything to do with the church and that she never wants to see my face again (yes, she was really mean!!) And before she slammed the door, i just simply asked her why she doesn't want to come back to church and her answer was really simple. She said ''it's because i didn't truly understand the covenants i made with God, and I don't want to play with God'' and then she said that if she would've truly understood what it was that she was accepting she would've never done it. So yeah her loss, but it's true. This is a big promise that you are making with the Lord. So thanks to the atonement we have the opportunity to repent and be better each day, but we should at least understand what we are doing and who we are truly following! Too many people here in Mexico (and in the world) go inactive because they don't truly understand who they are following! If we all understood that and were willing to follow him, then there would be no such thing as inactive members of the church! anyway, i invite you all to do that! 2 nephi 2:11-13
have a great week, love you all!
