It's finally December

Dec 5, 2017

The changes have come to an end! and it is a new change. I'm still here in iztapalapa, but it's okay. I've got exactly what I wanted. I am literally in the best area in Iztapalapa, and I have so much hope for this change.

I'll tell you a bit about my new companion, and about how I received him. On Sunday night, the zone leaders called super late and told me that I was training. I was pretty excited, because I really wanted to train. This generation of missionaries is the biggest generation that President Mecham has ever recieved. 23 new missionaries!! There were so many, so it's like half the mission is training practically. Since my companion, Elder Flores, was going home we had to be at the mission house at 7 in the morning. So we had to leave our house at 6.. i was dead tired because the night before I stayed up until 12:00 cleaning my house (12 is late for missionaries to stay up!!) and my companion was packing.  So we got to the mission home, and they told us we didn't have to be in the offices until 10:00 so we went and got breakfast at Burger King. I went to the meeting for trainers, and then we kinda just waited around until the changes at 2. President did a big presentation for the new missionaries in front of everyone, and then he started out by reading their names and who their trainers are. So he got through everyone, 20 names, and he didn't say my name. And I was like so what? am i not training anymore? And then he was like Elder Te and Elder Sanchez, your companions are currently in the airplane, flying from SLC. So I was like okay that means he's american (pretty happy tbh) but it meant that I wouldn't meet him until (8:00 that night. So I had to wait allllllllll dayyyyy in the offices for him to come. President went to pick up the new missionaries at the airport, they finally got to the offices. We got all his stuff sorted out, called a taxi and we went on our way to iztapalapa. But like some how the taxi driver got lost, I didn't know where we were and my companion obviously had no idea where we were, so it was a long journey back to our apartment. I can't explain everything, but I kinda got mad at the taxi driver for getting lost and almost making us late and I think  made him feel bad or something, but he gave us like 50 pesos off the cost of the taxi drive. So i guess it all worked out well!

Anyway! My companions name is Elder Lomeli. He is from Las Vegas! He is super cool too! He speaks likes 5 words in spanish so i can already tell this will be a fun transfer of a lot of learning, good thing Im like an expert in spanish (i'm really not haha). But he is very excited and motivated to be here out on the mission. I already know we are going to get along and baptize this transfer! Anyway, wish me luck for him!

well, hope everyone has a good week. It's christmas season! My absolute favorite time of the year! I'm trying to share the christmas spirit with everyone here. I got up in front of all the youth in my ward and told them that I want to go christmas caroling with them and they literally just stared at me. They had never even heard of christmas caroling in their lives. So it won't be easy, but im trying to get everyone involved! And you guys should too! #lighttheworld, right?? Watch the videos!

Love you all, make this the best christmas of your life!!

Week 5 - Figuring Things Out

Whats up everyone!? Hope everybody had a great week! Well, today, I finally hit two weeks in the field, and one month in the mission! I am honestly having a great time here. The city is absolutely disgusting and smells bad, but somehow I find it beautiful! The people here are great! I love meeting new people and teaching investigators! the only thing is that in practically every appointment we have, i always get asked what my thoughts on Donald Trump are... let me tell you, they HATE Trump here. So i obviously tell them I don't care about him. In reality, I don't have a preference. Not into politics. Anyways, I had a pretty good week though. Went on exchanges with the Zone Leaders and we went to work! Visited a ton of investigators. The people here are very very willing to listen to our message. I love it! It's hot here everyday, and there are random thunderstorms every now and then. The food is good but I´ll be honest, lately the food has been getting the worst of me latel...

Remember your covenants!

April 23, 2018 it was a pretty good week here in espartaco! Found some new investigators, put baptismal dates for them! so hope everything work out. They are three kids! so hopefully we can get them excited for baptism! Our investigator Jesus got baptized this week! It was pretty cool. Jesus has been an investigator for like 3 years, but for some reason he stopped listening to the missionaries for like 2 years. His wife recently got baptized, exactly a month ago actually, and so this past month we've really taken advantage of the opportunity and got him excited to be baptized. And Jesus is one of those investigators that you don't really find. His goal wasn't to be baptized. His goal is to get the priesthood and be sealed one day on the temple and baptism is just a step he needs to take to get there. He goes to church every Sunday and actively participates in class! He really wanted to change his life, and now he is baptized! He is such a great guy, and I know that if h...

Happy New Year 2018!!

Jan 8, 2018 sorry I havent written for so long! so much has happened, but then again I feel like not much has happened. My Christmas was pretty awesome here! I'm not gonna lie, it felt nothing like Christmas back at home in Oregon. The reason being... well they just celebrate it differently. There are people who go all out and decorate their homes with lights and Christmas trees, and then there are people that don't really care and just use it as an excuse to party and drink haha. But its cool. Christmas day here is really celebrated on the 24th, so the 25th kinda seems like a normal day. But nonetheless, I got to talk to my family and that's always nice. Then of course new years was this past week, which was pretty awesome too. It was weird because not that many people were out on the streets, kinda just another normal day. Cool story though: On Monday night, Elder Lomeli and I were talking right before we went to bed about the prophets. He was just asking me a bun...
