It's Christmas time in Mexico City!

Dec 18, 2017

what's up family and all my friends!?

I hope everone had a super awesome week! chirstmas is coming around the corner, the weather is getting colder, and everyone is just happier in this time if the year. I don't know if you guys knew this, but christmas is literally my favorite time of the whole entire year! and there is no better place to be than to be serving a misison.

Anyway, a few cool things about this week.

We did a zone activity on Saturday morning. We went to a thing called a tiangis. Tiangis are like huge flea markets with hundreds and hundreds of people. So it was the perfect place to contact people. We set up a table with a big poster that said #iluminaelmundo and it had a ton of books of Mormon and folletos on it. And so a few missionaries stayed at the table and the rest of us went out and handed out cards with candy canes and just tried to contact all the people that we could. I honestly thought it was a pretty dumb idea, but the very first people that we contacted just happened to take class from the missionaries 8 years ago. And they told us that they haven't seen missionaries for 8 years and they were so shocked. They were practically begging us to come visit them and teach them again. I mean, it was so awesome! So we'll see what happens with them. But the activity was very successful in my opinion.

Later that day was our baptism for the Saenz family. It's a family that I found with Elder Flores like 8 weeks ago. We didn't really do much with them, but in these last two weeks, Elder Lomeli and I have been trying to teach them all that we could for their baptism. Everything wokred out great. The baptism was literally the best baptism I have been to. With this family, the mom and dad got sealed in the temple a long time ago, but they went inactive for many years, and their three kids never got baptized. So we worked really hard to get them baptized, and that their dad could prepare to baptize and confirm them. And saturday it happend. 55 people came to the baptisimal service! Thats not normal at all. It was great to see all the support from all the ward. I'm not sure if it's cause we haven't had a baptism in this ward for 8 months or what it was, but there was so much support here. Anyway, it was beautful.

I know that the Lord blesses each and every one of us based on our obedience and faith that we show towards him. I have seen it in my mission a ton. I hope that this week all of you can find ways to show God how much you love him. This is the greates time of the year! Use it to your advantage to share the light of Christ with everyone! Have a great week! Love you all!

Love,

Elder Te

Week 5 - Figuring Things Out

Whats up everyone!? Hope everybody had a great week! Well, today, I finally hit two weeks in the field, and one month in the mission! I am honestly having a great time here. The city is absolutely disgusting and smells bad, but somehow I find it beautiful! The people here are great! I love meeting new people and teaching investigators! the only thing is that in practically every appointment we have, i always get asked what my thoughts on Donald Trump are... let me tell you, they HATE Trump here. So i obviously tell them I don't care about him. In reality, I don't have a preference. Not into politics. Anyways, I had a pretty good week though. Went on exchanges with the Zone Leaders and we went to work! Visited a ton of investigators. The people here are very very willing to listen to our message. I love it! It's hot here everyday, and there are random thunderstorms every now and then. The food is good but I´ll be honest, lately the food has been getting the worst of me latel...

Remember your covenants!

April 23, 2018 it was a pretty good week here in espartaco! Found some new investigators, put baptismal dates for them! so hope everything work out. They are three kids! so hopefully we can get them excited for baptism! Our investigator Jesus got baptized this week! It was pretty cool. Jesus has been an investigator for like 3 years, but for some reason he stopped listening to the missionaries for like 2 years. His wife recently got baptized, exactly a month ago actually, and so this past month we've really taken advantage of the opportunity and got him excited to be baptized. And Jesus is one of those investigators that you don't really find. His goal wasn't to be baptized. His goal is to get the priesthood and be sealed one day on the temple and baptism is just a step he needs to take to get there. He goes to church every Sunday and actively participates in class! He really wanted to change his life, and now he is baptized! He is such a great guy, and I know that if h...

Happy New Year 2018!!

Jan 8, 2018 sorry I havent written for so long! so much has happened, but then again I feel like not much has happened. My Christmas was pretty awesome here! I'm not gonna lie, it felt nothing like Christmas back at home in Oregon. The reason being... well they just celebrate it differently. There are people who go all out and decorate their homes with lights and Christmas trees, and then there are people that don't really care and just use it as an excuse to party and drink haha. But its cool. Christmas day here is really celebrated on the 24th, so the 25th kinda seems like a normal day. But nonetheless, I got to talk to my family and that's always nice. Then of course new years was this past week, which was pretty awesome too. It was weird because not that many people were out on the streets, kinda just another normal day. Cool story though: On Monday night, Elder Lomeli and I were talking right before we went to bed about the prophets. He was just asking me a bun...
