Well everyone, after a LONG 4 1/2 months in Oriente, I finally got changed! It was a good three changes there, but i'll be honest, it was time to go.
They called us on Saturday night and told us that I have changes and that my comp, Elder Pizzi, was going to train. So I packed everything up and we left to the offices this morning. I thought I was all going to go to a whole new zone with all knew missionaries and way far away from Iztapalapa, but no, turns out i'm still here in Iztapalapa. Thats actually the name of my area! I mean it's cool. But im still in the same zone, and my new area is about 10 minutes away from my old area. Haha, so its whatever. I know the Lord needs me to be here.
My new companions name is Elder Flores. He has 22 1/2 months in the mission, and he is on his last change. So I have a feeling I'll be here in Iztapalapa for awhile. I was telling some other elders that I'll probably finish my mission here, haha, so that means I win't see green grass until I get back to Oregon, haha! No no, Iztap is pretty, just in it's own very very unique way.
Since nothing cool really happened last week, I'll just share a little experience:
We were going on splits with some members in our ward so we had to walk all the way to Periferico (this huge highway that circles all the way around CDMX) and as we were sitting there, I just remember sitting there thinking that the people we are going to visit aren't even going to be there, and that i'm hungry, and tired, and not motivated at all in that moment. And so i was just sitting there, kinda frowning, waiting for the guys. They were 20 minutes late. And then..... out of nowhere, i saw this guy walking down the street. He looked homeless. He was probably high or something. He just passed by us and said ´´Be happy, and smile. Because if you don't then you'll never get what you want.´´ and then he literally just continued on his day like nothing. Do I think it was an angel sent from heaven to motivate me? maybe. But i guess my message for today is to not get down on yourself. Don't get discouraged. I know the Lord always has his angels around to help us and to motivate us when we need it. And let me tell ya! As fast and weird as that situation was and happend, it really helped me out the rest of the day.
Another cool thing. President Mecahm told us today that we are doing pretty good as a mission. He said that in Mexico right now, out of the 34 missions, we are baptizing on average 1 person for every 27 investigators that we find. And only 11 missions out of the 34 are baptizing more than they did last year. And we are one of the 11!! But even cooler, we, as a mission, are baptizing 1 person for every 11 investigators that we find! And Elder Paul Piper (area president of Mexico) told president Mecahm the other day that we should be so happy for the work we are doing because our mission will become the ecample mission for Mexico if we continue like how we are.
Anyway, have a great week! love you all!
