Hospitalized!

Oct 30, 2017

Buenas tardes everyone

It was a good first week in my new area, Iztapalapa. It's a huge area, but i've learned it super fast already, and we've got some good ivestigators so i'm excited for what's going to happen here. I have a feeling i'm gonna be in this area for awhile! So gotta make the best of it.

Since I'm barely getting to know the people and the members I don't really got any cool sotries for the week, so I'll just talk about my past two days. (trust me they are interesting!)

It all started on Thursday night when we got a text message from KFC. They were promtioning 9 pieces of chicken, 2 family size mash potatoes, 1 family size sald and 2 biscuits for only $149 pesos. That's like 7 dollars!! So we we're like uhh duhhh, so we called them right up and ordered the food! We were walking home really fast because we needed to get there in time ( oh yeah KFC delivers here in CDMX, it's awesome!) so we're all running home, looking forward to the fried chicken and biscuits. And i was more excited cause it was going to be my first time in Mexico eating KFC! So the food gets there, we take it up, finsih it in like 5 minutes because we were so hungry. Got ready for bed, and went to sleep. Then I woke up at like 3 am not feeling so well, so I got up, walked around a bit. Went back to sleep. And to put everything in short, the same thing happened Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I was feeling fine during the days, but early mornings sucked! So sunday (yesterday) I woke up at like 3:30 in the morning, couldn't sleep at all, cause I was so sick. So i just read until 6:30 and got up and got ready for church. I'll put everything in short again. I was so bad at church. The pain killed me so much! Three hours... i couldnt even take it. And even worse we had to go to the stake center after church to go turn in some papers, and it was like an hour in a small little bus. That was even worse. We got tot he stake center, I asked the zone leaders for a blessing and when Elder Jennings gave me the blessing I felt great, I didn't have any pain during the blessing. It was a super super spiritual experience for me. Anyway, the pain started to come back and i was like dang. It was another hour drive home in a microbus (aka small bus in CDMX) so we went the hour drive home. It sucked. I layed down in bed, tried everyhing, still hurt. Like specificallymy back and my legs! I didnt even know why!! Finally i was like elder flores we have to go to the hospital. So we did. I thought i had apendecitis or something! The hospital is an hour away, and I wasn't going to go through a micro again so we took a taxi. Got there, they checked me out and said I need to stay the night. I was like okay. Since I had been sick all day, I literally didn't eat anything, not a single thing. So finally they get me in a bed, with the IV and stuff and gave me this really good medecine that made me feel really... happy. So it took away all my pain. And I was like IM STARVING! So we ordered a pizza (on sunday... i know...) The pizza finally got there, I stuffed my face with like 6 pieces of pizza and then 5 minutes later threw it up. We went to sleep, I couldn't sleep, cause i had a pretty high fever, and a mosquito kept bugging me (lol) and all these nurses kept coming in like every hour to check on me, im like seriously.. So they did all these tests and x-rays, and I had to wait like 5 hours just to get the results. Well during that time I threw the pizza up two more times. But then i started to feel better after some more drugs. And remember today was P-day, and i'm laying in a hospital bed with nothing to do. A few doctors are checking on me, they arent telling me much. And finally! after the whole day of waiting the doctor comes in, I'm all thinking he's gonna say surgery or something since i've been waiting so long, and he's just like `` it's just a small infection in your urinary tract`` and im like seriously... he's all like ``there was probably something in that chicken you ate and from all the spicy food, but we're just gonna give you some antibiotics and you can go home`` so yeah, we spent our whole p day in a hospital room... But on the bright side I got to finsh my book and get to know my companion better. So yeah I guess the church is true! haha no but seriously the church is true and the mission is great.

I'm thankful for all the support i receive from all you guys, you're awesome! Have a great week! Hopefully you didnt get bored with my story...

Follow the promptings of the spirit always, read the Book of Mormon EVERY DAY and just be happy.

Love you all,

Elder Te

Week 5 - Figuring Things Out

Whats up everyone!? Hope everybody had a great week! Well, today, I finally hit two weeks in the field, and one month in the mission! I am honestly having a great time here. The city is absolutely disgusting and smells bad, but somehow I find it beautiful! The people here are great! I love meeting new people and teaching investigators! the only thing is that in practically every appointment we have, i always get asked what my thoughts on Donald Trump are... let me tell you, they HATE Trump here. So i obviously tell them I don't care about him. In reality, I don't have a preference. Not into politics. Anyways, I had a pretty good week though. Went on exchanges with the Zone Leaders and we went to work! Visited a ton of investigators. The people here are very very willing to listen to our message. I love it! It's hot here everyday, and there are random thunderstorms every now and then. The food is good but I´ll be honest, lately the food has been getting the worst of me latel...

Remember your covenants!

April 23, 2018 it was a pretty good week here in espartaco! Found some new investigators, put baptismal dates for them! so hope everything work out. They are three kids! so hopefully we can get them excited for baptism! Our investigator Jesus got baptized this week! It was pretty cool. Jesus has been an investigator for like 3 years, but for some reason he stopped listening to the missionaries for like 2 years. His wife recently got baptized, exactly a month ago actually, and so this past month we've really taken advantage of the opportunity and got him excited to be baptized. And Jesus is one of those investigators that you don't really find. His goal wasn't to be baptized. His goal is to get the priesthood and be sealed one day on the temple and baptism is just a step he needs to take to get there. He goes to church every Sunday and actively participates in class! He really wanted to change his life, and now he is baptized! He is such a great guy, and I know that if h...

Happy New Year 2018!!

Jan 8, 2018 sorry I havent written for so long! so much has happened, but then again I feel like not much has happened. My Christmas was pretty awesome here! I'm not gonna lie, it felt nothing like Christmas back at home in Oregon. The reason being... well they just celebrate it differently. There are people who go all out and decorate their homes with lights and Christmas trees, and then there are people that don't really care and just use it as an excuse to party and drink haha. But its cool. Christmas day here is really celebrated on the 24th, so the 25th kinda seems like a normal day. But nonetheless, I got to talk to my family and that's always nice. Then of course new years was this past week, which was pretty awesome too. It was weird because not that many people were out on the streets, kinda just another normal day. Cool story though: On Monday night, Elder Lomeli and I were talking right before we went to bed about the prophets. He was just asking me a bun...
