Happy Thanksgiving!

Nov 20, 2017

Hola everyone!

Sorry I haven't written a group email in so long. Not much has been going on here in Iztapalapa! We have a lot of investigators that are progressing very slowly, so i'll let you know when the baptisms start happening! (probably when my companion goes home haha)

Anyway, since I don't have much time, I'll just put some pictures to update you guys. I had the great blessing to go to the temple this week on Wednesday. It was one of the best and most spiritual experiences that I've had on my mission.

I hope everyone has a safe and fun Thanksgiving. Never forget the blessings that we receive every single day from The Lord. Be grateful for the people that are in your life. Be grateful for the things you have. Like I've said many times, the area that I'm in right now isn't really that rich. It's really hard to see how families live. Not having enough water to even shower or wash the dishes or clothes. Dirt floors, no money. I mean, it's hard, and they know it's hard. BUT they are grateful. Sure, of course they wish they had cars and money, but I can truly testify that these people are humble. They just put their trust in the Lord. Some of the strongest and most faithful members of the church are some of the poorest people I have met, but they don't care, they just keep going every day.

Always give thanks to The Lord for what you have. Food, family, whatever it may be. Again, hope everyone was the best thanksgiving ever. Remember the Savior Jesus Christ and be sure to thank Him for the Atonement.

I stole a little part of President Mechams letter to the misison, and I'm goning to share it with you:

My hope is that as we begin each day for the rest of our lives that we can feel a deep feeling of gratitude for all Heavenly Father has given us. This includes the trails and challenges of life. Yes I have learned that The Lord doesnt care about easy but oh how He does care. Take time to be still and ponder upon all the blessings of your life. And where you would be without the gospel of Christ in your life and His atonement. Learn how to find joy and gratitude as you see and experience the simple things of life. Like a beautiful blue sky, the song of a bird, the smile from a stranger because you said hi, the right to practice our beliefs and the love of family and friends. There are so many blessing which we have.

Love you all,

Elder Te

Week 5 - Figuring Things Out

Whats up everyone!? Hope everybody had a great week! Well, today, I finally hit two weeks in the field, and one month in the mission! I am honestly having a great time here. The city is absolutely disgusting and smells bad, but somehow I find it beautiful! The people here are great! I love meeting new people and teaching investigators! the only thing is that in practically every appointment we have, i always get asked what my thoughts on Donald Trump are... let me tell you, they HATE Trump here. So i obviously tell them I don't care about him. In reality, I don't have a preference. Not into politics. Anyways, I had a pretty good week though. Went on exchanges with the Zone Leaders and we went to work! Visited a ton of investigators. The people here are very very willing to listen to our message. I love it! It's hot here everyday, and there are random thunderstorms every now and then. The food is good but I´ll be honest, lately the food has been getting the worst of me latel...

Remember your covenants!

April 23, 2018 it was a pretty good week here in espartaco! Found some new investigators, put baptismal dates for them! so hope everything work out. They are three kids! so hopefully we can get them excited for baptism! Our investigator Jesus got baptized this week! It was pretty cool. Jesus has been an investigator for like 3 years, but for some reason he stopped listening to the missionaries for like 2 years. His wife recently got baptized, exactly a month ago actually, and so this past month we've really taken advantage of the opportunity and got him excited to be baptized. And Jesus is one of those investigators that you don't really find. His goal wasn't to be baptized. His goal is to get the priesthood and be sealed one day on the temple and baptism is just a step he needs to take to get there. He goes to church every Sunday and actively participates in class! He really wanted to change his life, and now he is baptized! He is such a great guy, and I know that if h...

Happy New Year 2018!!

Jan 8, 2018 sorry I havent written for so long! so much has happened, but then again I feel like not much has happened. My Christmas was pretty awesome here! I'm not gonna lie, it felt nothing like Christmas back at home in Oregon. The reason being... well they just celebrate it differently. There are people who go all out and decorate their homes with lights and Christmas trees, and then there are people that don't really care and just use it as an excuse to party and drink haha. But its cool. Christmas day here is really celebrated on the 24th, so the 25th kinda seems like a normal day. But nonetheless, I got to talk to my family and that's always nice. Then of course new years was this past week, which was pretty awesome too. It was weird because not that many people were out on the streets, kinda just another normal day. Cool story though: On Monday night, Elder Lomeli and I were talking right before we went to bed about the prophets. He was just asking me a bun...
