Christmas is right around the corner!!!

Nov 27, 2017

Well everyone, I am in my last week of the tranfer! This one has gone by so incredibly fast. Since my companion is going home, I am like 99.99% sure that im staying in this area. But it's all good, because I LOVE my area. Despite the fact that its dangerous and all, the work is pretty good. Like I said this area hasn't had a single baptism for 6 months!! I couldn't believe it when I heard that, but I really really want to change that! So thats my goal for this next change.

I'm not gonna lie, nothing cool really happened this week. But yesterday at church some members were telling us that the temple lights were going up tonight, and i was all like dang I wanna go, but theres no way president will give us permission. So I kinda forgot about it,a nd then like an hour later one of our investigators said that he wanted to go see the temple lights, so i got really excited! And I kept telling my companion to ask president, and he kept saying no and no. Then finally he sent hima message and he responded saying yes! I was shocked. So anyway, we got to go to the temple again!! It was the best, there was like 2000 or 3000 people! And like all the mission presidents in mexico city were there and there was a devotional and the visitors center was so full. And since my brother served in the east misison (which has the temple in it) everybody knew him, so everytime i go theres a bunch of misisonaries or members that want to take pictures with me so its fun.

Anyway, we waited awhile for the lighting to start, but finally Elder CastaƱeda and the rest of the church leaders came out and they started, im gonna try to put the video! But im sorry i didnt have much to say this week. Next week will be a lot better i hope! I'll have a new companion.

Anyway here are the pics... and some other ones fromt he week.

Love you guys!

Week 5 - Figuring Things Out

Whats up everyone!? Hope everybody had a great week! Well, today, I finally hit two weeks in the field, and one month in the mission! I am honestly having a great time here. The city is absolutely disgusting and smells bad, but somehow I find it beautiful! The people here are great! I love meeting new people and teaching investigators! the only thing is that in practically every appointment we have, i always get asked what my thoughts on Donald Trump are... let me tell you, they HATE Trump here. So i obviously tell them I don't care about him. In reality, I don't have a preference. Not into politics. Anyways, I had a pretty good week though. Went on exchanges with the Zone Leaders and we went to work! Visited a ton of investigators. The people here are very very willing to listen to our message. I love it! It's hot here everyday, and there are random thunderstorms every now and then. The food is good but I´ll be honest, lately the food has been getting the worst of me latel...

Remember your covenants!

April 23, 2018 it was a pretty good week here in espartaco! Found some new investigators, put baptismal dates for them! so hope everything work out. They are three kids! so hopefully we can get them excited for baptism! Our investigator Jesus got baptized this week! It was pretty cool. Jesus has been an investigator for like 3 years, but for some reason he stopped listening to the missionaries for like 2 years. His wife recently got baptized, exactly a month ago actually, and so this past month we've really taken advantage of the opportunity and got him excited to be baptized. And Jesus is one of those investigators that you don't really find. His goal wasn't to be baptized. His goal is to get the priesthood and be sealed one day on the temple and baptism is just a step he needs to take to get there. He goes to church every Sunday and actively participates in class! He really wanted to change his life, and now he is baptized! He is such a great guy, and I know that if h...

Happy New Year 2018!!

Jan 8, 2018 sorry I havent written for so long! so much has happened, but then again I feel like not much has happened. My Christmas was pretty awesome here! I'm not gonna lie, it felt nothing like Christmas back at home in Oregon. The reason being... well they just celebrate it differently. There are people who go all out and decorate their homes with lights and Christmas trees, and then there are people that don't really care and just use it as an excuse to party and drink haha. But its cool. Christmas day here is really celebrated on the 24th, so the 25th kinda seems like a normal day. But nonetheless, I got to talk to my family and that's always nice. Then of course new years was this past week, which was pretty awesome too. It was weird because not that many people were out on the streets, kinda just another normal day. Cool story though: On Monday night, Elder Lomeli and I were talking right before we went to bed about the prophets. He was just asking me a bun...
