7 months!

Oct 16, 2017

Hola everyone! Sorry I have written to all of you in so long! I have tried but it's been hard to come up with things to say, to keep you guys interested... ya know?

So we are in the last week of my fifth transfer! crazy how the time has gone by right? It's all good, I've still got  a ton of time left! I am still here in my area Oriente in Iztapalapa. I've got almost three changes here or about 18 weeks, so we'll see what happens! Elder Pizzi and I have been doing some good work here. We haven't had a baptism yet this transfer. We've had a ton of people ready for baptism and then last minute they back out! It sucks! but i guess thats what happens. Just gotta keep moving on. Im not going to lie, these past two weeks were a big struggle for us. We just didn't have a lot of success. We were only finding 2 or 3 new investigators a week. The ward wasn't working with us as much as they could. We had a good amount of baptisimal dates fall. The investigators wern't coming to church. So we got together and pretty much said ¨we're sucking right now and we need to change our area.¨ So that morning (saturday) we were like were going to visit a bunch of less active members and talk with them. Try to re-activate them and possibly find some new investigators. Because thats what we need! We are going to drop practically all of our current investigators that are not progressing and find new ones! That will solve everything. So thats what we did. Saturday morning was hot. We went to every house we planned to, and LITERALLY nobody answered the door! We even got to one house where we literally saw and heard the lady walk up slowly to the door, look through the eye whole, whisper to someone ït's the missionaries...¨and then slowly walked away. So yeah, pretty discouraging morning for us. We were stresed and didnt know what to do. So after lunch that day, we both felt real prompted to do a fast. Personal and as a companionship. So we knelt down in prayer and asked The Lord to bless our area. To strengthen us and to motivate us to find new investigators. Well, I'll put it in short. We were able to see the fruits and the blessings of The Lord in our area this week. Truly. We set out and with obedience, dilligence and the great help of our leaders, we were able to find 27 new investigators. The people were just so much more receptive to us this week. They wanted to hear us and learn about God and his Son Jesus Christ. Something happened this week in our area and we give all our thanks and love to the Lord. I know that this doesnt mean 27 baptisms, but it sure did motivate us. I have a lot of hope.

That is the great thing about the mission. If people don't want to listen to you, you drop them, and go find more. And it's pretty easy here. Theres 5 million of them waiting to hear us.

Quick recap of General Conference... It was great! I loved it. I mean, I could honestly say as a missionary, I'm addicted to General Conference. It's the truth. I loved each and every talk. And it's cool cause i got to watch it in english with all the American elders.

Anyways, I love the misison. It's the best. I'll try to attach as many pictures as i can for you guys. Just remember to always turn to the Lord for everything. Moroni 7:48 councils us to pray with all the enerygy of thy heart. Ponder what it means to pray with ALL the energy of your heart.

Love all you guys! Take care and have a super great amazing week!

Love,

Elder Te

Some of my zone
Funny story... During the two hour break on sunday's general conference, we as elders got kinda bored and so we were just seeing who could jump over who. And so I wanted to do it! I jumped over one,and then two and then three and I was like yeah i can do four, why not? So as i was running to jump them, they all started to fall cause they were all on top of each others' backs, and long story short, I flipped over them and ripped my suit pants. And not just ripped, I destroyed them so bad that the lady who sews our clothes said that it would be impossible to fix. So an hermana was nice enough to loan me her sweater.
Making that weird face again. With my homie Elder Pizzi
Awesome way to serve on the mission. I am so glad I learned how to cut hair before I came here
Tacos de carnitas... IDK how to explain... so good!

Week 5 - Figuring Things Out

Whats up everyone!? Hope everybody had a great week! Well, today, I finally hit two weeks in the field, and one month in the mission! I am honestly having a great time here. The city is absolutely disgusting and smells bad, but somehow I find it beautiful! The people here are great! I love meeting new people and teaching investigators! the only thing is that in practically every appointment we have, i always get asked what my thoughts on Donald Trump are... let me tell you, they HATE Trump here. So i obviously tell them I don't care about him. In reality, I don't have a preference. Not into politics. Anyways, I had a pretty good week though. Went on exchanges with the Zone Leaders and we went to work! Visited a ton of investigators. The people here are very very willing to listen to our message. I love it! It's hot here everyday, and there are random thunderstorms every now and then. The food is good but I´ll be honest, lately the food has been getting the worst of me latel...

Remember your covenants!

April 23, 2018 it was a pretty good week here in espartaco! Found some new investigators, put baptismal dates for them! so hope everything work out. They are three kids! so hopefully we can get them excited for baptism! Our investigator Jesus got baptized this week! It was pretty cool. Jesus has been an investigator for like 3 years, but for some reason he stopped listening to the missionaries for like 2 years. His wife recently got baptized, exactly a month ago actually, and so this past month we've really taken advantage of the opportunity and got him excited to be baptized. And Jesus is one of those investigators that you don't really find. His goal wasn't to be baptized. His goal is to get the priesthood and be sealed one day on the temple and baptism is just a step he needs to take to get there. He goes to church every Sunday and actively participates in class! He really wanted to change his life, and now he is baptized! He is such a great guy, and I know that if h...

Happy New Year 2018!!

Jan 8, 2018 sorry I havent written for so long! so much has happened, but then again I feel like not much has happened. My Christmas was pretty awesome here! I'm not gonna lie, it felt nothing like Christmas back at home in Oregon. The reason being... well they just celebrate it differently. There are people who go all out and decorate their homes with lights and Christmas trees, and then there are people that don't really care and just use it as an excuse to party and drink haha. But its cool. Christmas day here is really celebrated on the 24th, so the 25th kinda seems like a normal day. But nonetheless, I got to talk to my family and that's always nice. Then of course new years was this past week, which was pretty awesome too. It was weird because not that many people were out on the streets, kinda just another normal day. Cool story though: On Monday night, Elder Lomeli and I were talking right before we went to bed about the prophets. He was just asking me a bun...
