Week 19 - MAS CAMBIOS!!

Well everyone! It's the start of a new transfer! My companion went to another area and i'm staying here in Oriente! I'm pretty pumped. My new companion's name is Elder Lozano. He´s from Sinaloa, Mexico and has about 20 months in the mission. I think we're gonna have a good time together! This past week was alright, a bit rough. We dropped a ton of our investigators, and tried to find some new ones. We found about 5 people. One of them, his name is Arturo, is a pretty cool guy. The way we contacted him is because he owns an internet. Or a place that has like a ton of computers and video games. Well, he had  a picture of Jesus Christ holding a lamb. And that's the picture on the booklet of the Restauration. So I was like ¨what!?¨ we're going to contact him. So we went in, started talking to him, asked him about the picture and he just said he saw it on google, liked it, and printed i tout to put in front of the store. So we're like oh cool! and we ended ...

Week 18 - Nothing much to say

Hello everyone! Pics from the week! 1. This is the thing about mexico. The people show up to sacrament meeting very late. This is a picture of sacrament meeting, 3 minutes before it starts! NOBODY!!! 2. My english class! Not going so great! the attendance was one person and my companion! haha its okay though! 3. a cool pic of me using the black and white filter 4. Went on companion exchanges with elder Mendoza! He's from the dominican republic! Such a cool guy! Sorry, I don't really have much to say about this week! So i hope everyone has an amazing week! Stay true! And let the Holy Spirit guide! Elder N. Te

Week 17 - Holding fast to the Iron Rod

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great week!! My week was a bit slow, so I honestly do not have much to write about. We have two people with a baptismal date for the 29th of this month (which is literally a miracle!). But we have been working with them and I hope they can get baptized on that date!! Their names are Jorge and Ivan. Two great guys. As for everything else here in Oriente, we decided to drop a good amount of our investigators that weren't progressing. We are really focusing on people that have a baptismal date and finding new investigators! The people are willing to listen to us, but they are never there for the citas that we put with them! Its annoying sometimes, but its okay. There is only two weeks left in the transfer! Its crazy how fast the time is going by! But something crazy that is going to happen! Well its not that crazy, but 8 missionaries finish their mission this transfer and we are only receiving 1 missionary! So President Mecham will probably clo...

Week 16- TORTILLAS!!!!

Buenas tardes everyone! Hope that everyone had a great week! Everything is all good here in Oriente! Im not gonna lie, we´ve been stuggling a bit with our investigators. They all want to learn, but none of them want to complete with the promises that we leave with them. And what i mean by that is we have a ton of investigators that we have citas (appointments) with and we come and teach them, and they learn all the information, however they do not progress. They arent reading the BoM, they arent saying their prayers, and it is incredibly hard to get them to come to church. So yes, a little difficult but i am still nonetheless still smiling and trying to have a positve over here! So that was a bit about my week, not too much going on. I started teaching my English class! And it honestly sucks hahahaha! The first week one girl came, then the second week three people came but one of them already speaks english super well! and then this week literally nobody came to my class, so im thinki...

Week 15 - CAMBIOS! aka transfers

Well everyone, my time in the great La Noria has ended. I mean I was only there for 12 weeks but it was great. I got to know the ward and the area super well, and I really hope to get sent back someday! But that's okay. I am now in an area called Oriente, in a huge zone called Iztapalapa. It is pretty big, but to give you guys an idea of how big it is and how many people live here. It's only one zone in our mission and about 2.5 million people live in all of iztapalapa. And there are only 16 missionaries covering all those 2 million people! So yeah, it's a lot. I´ve only been here for one week and i've eaten rice, eggs, and tortillas about 5 times. I guess it´s something really popular here. Compared to La Noria, i would say i am in a pretty poor area. The people don't have a lot of money, but they are honestly so sweet and nice. Lots of people are willing to hear us and it's great. I feel like i'm going to have a lot of success here. It´s hard because i don...

Week 13 - Last week of my 12 weeks (training)

Hello everybody! Hope you all had an awesome week! Not too much happened this week. It is my last week of the 12 week program! So after this week i will no longer be a trainee. Which i'm pretty excited about. But anyways, im just gonna write about saturday. We baptized a man we've been teaching for awhile. His name is Vicente, and he is honestly the definition of a convert. When we first found him, he had no interest in us. He wouldn't really pay attention to the lessons, and he would always have excuses on why he wasn't there for our appointments. But once we started teaching about repentance and baptism his attitude changed. He was really eager to be baptized and be clean. He would always be there for our appointments, and he always had a huge smile on his face when we would would. When we started teaching about the sabbath day and attending church, not did he only attend our ward, but he would attend earlier wards to learn more! its awesome, and he finally got bapti...

Week 12 - Read the BoM

Hello everybody! Well, i just finished my 10th week in the mission! I can't believe how fast the time is flying by, but then when i look ahead in the future i'm like oh dang i've still got 21 more months! It's all good tho! I hope all of you had a good week! Me and Elder Santos has a pretty productive week. We honestly don't have too many investigators right now. But the ones that we do have are progressing a lot! I love teaching the gospel and especially in spanish. It's starting to become more of a second nature to me. I even wake up speaking spanish, its pretty funny. We didn't do anything super cool like go to the temple or have a baptism this week, but we are always having cool experiences. For example, I have the opportunity to teach an English class to my ward during the second hour of church and i think that will be pretty fun! We have a great ward. Last week, Elder Santos and I spoke during sacrament meeting. He gave a great talk on keeping the sa...
